An-Najah student Hadi Haj Ali embarks on an experience in India, taking a new step toward his professional future.
From the moment I began the application process for a practical training opportunity in India, I felt a mixture of excitement and nervousness. This experience was particularly meaningful to me because it was my first time traveling to a distant country with a culture completely different from my own.
My journey began when I came across an announcement about a training opportunity from the Information Technology Department at An-Najah National University. I completed the application form, and shortly afterward, I was contacted by the Practical Training Center. I was then contacted by my IAESTE supervisor, who guided me through the necessary procedures until I received the final approval from IAESTE India.
My name is Hadi Haj Ali, and I am a Computer Science in the Job Market student at An-Najah National University. I had the opportunity to travel to India and participate in a one-month training program at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT), Sikkim, beginning on May 30, 2026.
The training provided me with an important opportunity to develop my technical skills and expand my knowledge in computer science. During the training, I learned how to write reports and work with algorithms related to developing artificial intelligence (AI) models. I also gained experience using MATLAB and Regression Analysis.
Academically, this experience helped me connect the theoretical knowledge I had gained at university with practical learning. It also introduced me to different educational and training methods and allowed me to gain new knowledge in areas related to technological development and artificial intelligence.
On a personal level, the experience was full of challenges and memorable moments. At first, I felt a little afraid because it was my first time traveling to a distant country, and the culture and lifestyle were completely different from what I was used to. However, as time passed, I gradually adapted to the new environment, met people from different backgrounds, and became more open to other people's experiences and ideas.
Life in India was a unique experience. The training allowed me to discover a new culture and a different way of life. Interacting with the students was easy and comfortable because they were university students just like me, and we shared a common interest in learning and gaining experience.
Although I faced some difficulties at the beginning, especially with the food and adapting to daily life, I gradually tried different dishes until I became accustomed to them and eventually enjoyed some of them. I also made new friends, which helped me feel more comfortable and connected to the people around me.
This journey was not simply an academic training experience; it was a valuable opportunity for personal growth and self-discovery. Throughout the experience, I learned to rely more on myself, handle unfamiliar situations, and adapt to a different environment. I also became more confident in communicating with others and building new friendships.
Most importantly, I realized that stepping outside my comfort zone can create valuable opportunities for learning, growth, and discovering my own abilities.
I will always appreciate this experience for everything it added to my academic and personal development. It will remain one of the most memorable experiences of my life, one that broadened my perspective, strengthened my ambitions, and encouraged me to continue learning and developing my skills in my field of study.
