The 1st International Optometry Conference
Held on September 2nd and 4th, 2016 at An-Najah National University in Nablus, Palestine
The conference is organized by the Optometry Department at An-Najah, in collaboration with An-Najah National University Hospital and the Palestinian Council of Optometrists & Optics. The conference will focus on promoting optometry as a primary eye care profession and expanding low vision services in Palestine.
The conference will also serve as a collaborative platform to local, regional and international clinicians, academics, researches and stakeholders to advocate for better eye care services for all. The conference programme will consist of high-profile plenary/keynote lectures, workshops, poster session and an industrial exhibition to display the latest innovations and tools in eye care.

Description
A series of lectures and workshops to showcase the role of optometry in primary eye care
Objectives:
- Promote the integration of eye health at the primary health care delivery system in Palestine.
- Develop high quality, advanced, accessible and equitable eye health and vision care for Palestinians.
- Collaborate with local stakeholders to improve vision care services and eliminate preventable blindness.
- Collaborate with international institutions to improve optometric educational programmes and eye care services in Palestine.
- Provide a continuing education forum for local optometrist.
Goal
Improve vision rehabilitation services in Palestine by providing evidence-based educational forum and workshops for all stakeholders involved in vision care.
Description
A series of lectures and workshops to improve knowledge and skills on vision rehabilitation for eye care providers
Objectives:
- Raise people’s awareness on low vision services in Palestine.
- Introduce stakeholders to the importance of incorporating vision rehabilitation services into the health care system.
- Improve eye care services provided to visually impaired service users.
- Improve collaboration between eye care providers in caring for service beneficiaries.
- Promote overall improvement in quality of life for the visually impaired through peer discussions and forums.

Registration is open to optometrists, ophthalmologists, medical doctors, residents and students as well as stakeholders and organizations involved in vision care in the West Bank, Jerusalem and 1948 Territories.
Registration is 10 JD per day for all participants and it covers attending lectures, workshops, poster sessions and the exhibition. Food and refreshments will be included in the registration fee. Attendance certificates will be issued to all participants registering in the conference. Payment information will be emailed to all participants registering.
