“Hona Ghazza” Triumphing for Life
From a place where the voice was besieged before the body, and where truth was measured by its ability to survive, “Hona Ghazza - Here Is Gaza” was born… a radio and television station that stands with the Palestinian people as they negotiate life daily for their right to exist and to have their story told exactly as it is… without omission or distortion.
“Hona Gazza” is a space for listening, an act of presence in the face of erasure, and a memory shaped on the air.
As part of an independent media initiative, and within their media partnership under the “ENGAGE” project, funded by the European Union, Filastiniyat and the Media Center at An-Najah National University are launching the “Hona Ghazza” radio and television station.
“Hona Ghazza” aims to establish a modern, professional national media model, seeking to provide reliable media services that enhance national awareness, defend human and legal values, and contribute to building a free society governed by social justice.
It also seeks to make people’s lives easier by providing detailed and comprehensive information about the services available in the Gaza Strip, including health and education, food and water, checkpoint and border crossings, courts, municipalities, institutions, currency exchange, product prices, and more.
“Hona Ghazza” offers educational and guidance programs addressing health, environmental, and psychological crises, as well as issues related to women, children, youth, and adolescents. All programs are based on listening to the voices of Gaza’s residents and are supported by professional experts, strengthening partnerships with active international, national, and local organizations both inside and outside Gaza.
The editorial policy of “Hona Ghazza” is based on the principles of freedom, independence, credibility, and professionalism, as well as a deep commitment to the ethical and legal standards that govern media work. This ensures the delivery of content that serves the Palestinian people and their cause, reflects the diversity and strength of Palestinian society, and highlights their resilience.
The vision of “Hona Ghazza” radio and television stems from its role as a Palestinian media platform that combines professionalism with national identity. It contributes to building inclusive national awareness based on truth, justice, and freedom, and, through its mission, seeks to provide independent, responsible, and professional media that reflects the reality and resilience of the Palestinian people, while preserving their narrative and their right to self-determination and freedom.
You can follow live broadcasts on the website: www.honagazza.live. The editorial policy and code of conduct are also available, serving as tools for community accountability and affirming that “Hona Ghazza” was established, from the very beginning, and will remain, in service of the Palestinian community and committed to providing reliable information.
Notably, 80% of the station’s staff are young female journalists with extensive experience in news and program production, enabling the station to present its narrative through a youthful, feminist perspective that targets all sectors and groups without discrimination.
Wafa' Abdel Rahman, Director of "Filastiniyat", said: "Hona Ghazza (Here is Gaza) is not an additional media outlet. It is a safe community space for the people of Gaza a place to ask questions in the absence of answers. It is a continuation of the safe spaces that Filastiniyat has provided, specifically for female journalists during the genocide, and it continues to offer them."
Ghazi Murtaja, Director of the Media Center, stated: "Hona Ghazaa is the voice of the steadfast Gazan citizen, a voice that has endured in triumph for life not just any life, but a life of dignity and pride."
“Hona Ghazza” began its off-air trial broadcast in early February and officially launches its live broadcast today, Wednesday, 11 February, on 102 FM, from the Media Center studios in Nablus and the Filastiniyat Association studios in Gaza City and Deir al-Balah, in the presence of representatives of the European Union.
