An-Najah National University and Nablus Municipality Discuss Paths for Joint Cooperation in Various Fields

An-Najah National University’s senior delegation met with officials from Nablus Municipality on May 11, 2024, to explore avenues for impactful cooperation across multiple fields. The university delegation included key academic and administrative leaders, such as Vice Presidents Dr. Abdel Salam Al-Khayyat and Dr. Saed Al-Koni, along with Dr. Saed Al-Khayyat, Director of Scientific Centers; Prof. Jalal Dabbeek, head of the Urban Planning and Disaster Risk Reduction Center; and Dr. Allam Mousa, Director of the Information Technology Center. Joining the meeting were members of the Nablus Municipal Council and several directors of specialized departments.
Nablus Mayor Dr. Hossam Al-Shakhshir welcomed the university delegation, expressing appreciation for the longstanding partnership between the municipality and An-Najah University. He highlighted the university’s academic and research achievements, noting its distinction as the top-ranked university in Palestine and a leader in the Times Higher Education rankings. The municipality, he emphasized, sees significant value in collaborating with An-Najah’s research and innovation centers, particularly in digital transformation, urban planning, and technological advancements that could greatly benefit the city.
University representatives reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the local community and fostering impactful partnerships with the city’s institutions. They emphasized that the university views Nablus Municipality as a strategic partner, dedicated to enhancing the city’s growth and resilience.
During the discussions, the two parties explored several potential initiatives and regional projects aimed at addressing local challenges and promoting sustainable urban development. They agreed to form a joint committee to facilitate and prioritize projects that would benefit both institutions and the Nablus community.
