The meeting was attended by Mr. Sujit Mohanty, Director of the UN Regional Office for Disaster Risk Reduction-Cairo, Mr. Hassan Abu Al-Aila, Head of the National Center for Disaster Risk Management, prof. Dr. Jalal Dabbeek, Director of Director of Urban Planning & Disaster Reduction Center, Miss Summer Abo Moghli, International Relations Officer at the University.

Prof. Zaid welcomed the guests and briefed them on An-Najah’s mission, strategic plans, international rankings and other academic achievements. Additionally, he mentioned the university's development partnerships with various specialized agencies for disaster risk reduction at the national, regional, and international levels. He also talked the University’s ongoing efforts to share experiences and best practices in the field of disaster risk reduction, localize technology, and strengthen collaboration in order to create a safe and healthy society.

In addition to investing in research, he added: "The University pays more attention to the sustainable developments issues and goals as part of its national vision, and it has contributed to the empowerment of the local community, the establishment of specialized centers to achieve its goals, and the improvement of the University’s facilities and infrastructures.”

Ms. Mizutori was quite impressed with the academic and research achievements of the University, and emphasized on the importance of developing cooperation in various fields. She also commended An-Najah's partnerships with a variety of institutions and ministries that would contribute to capacity development for disaster risk management.

Prof. Dabbeek gave a presentation about the University's scientific centers referring to the activities and studies carried out by the Urban Planning and Disaster Risk Reduction Center at the University.

The visit concluded with a meeting with the directors of a number of the University’s scientific centers and units.
