An-Najah University launched the “Biodiversity Conservation Project in the Oldest Olive Groves of Palestine”, funded by The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF), and BirdLife International.

The project was supported by local society institutions, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Environment Quality Authority.

The members of the project group, Dr. Raed alKoani, Dr. Samer Jarrar, and the field researcher, Ahmad Umari, set up workshops that support local olive fields’ biodiversity. They paid special attention to the importance of protecting olive trees as they are an essential part of the Palestinian heritage.
