FAO Delegation Visits An-Najah University

Prof. Maher Natsheh, An-Najah President, welcomed a delegation from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The delegation was headed by Dr. Azzam Saleh Ayasa, Head of Program at FAO West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Dr. Ayasa talked about the development programs offered by the organization in various countries of the world in general and Palestine in particular.
He noted that the Food and Agriculture Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger and improve nutrition and food security.
Dr. Ayasa added that FAO aims to help governments and development agencies coordinate their activities by offering different development programs to improve and develop agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and land and water resources.
Moreover, Dr. Ayasa refereed to the role of the FAQ in conducting research, providing technical assistance to projects, operating educational and training programs, and collecting data on agricultural output, production, and development.
Prof. Al-Natsheh emphasized on the importance of developing international relations and links with prominent organizations around the world such as FAO.
He also talked about the University's role in sustainable development in various fields such as agriculture, human development and human resources development.
