An-Najah Hosts a Delegation from Lillehammer University College in Norway

On Tuesday, September 26th, 2017, the International Office at An-Najah received a delegation from Lillehammer University College in Norway that included a number of international relations professors and students.
The delegation aimed at learning about the reality of the Israeli Palestinian conflict and the obstacles that Palestinians encounter under occupation, such as the Apartheid Wall, settlements expansion and check points.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Hasan Ayoub, Head of the Political Sciences Department, discussed with the delegation a number of issues in regard to the Israeli Palestinian conflict, and its root causes, as well as the complications with international conflict resolution theory when it comes to this particular conflict. He also discussed possible means of mutual cooperation between the Political Sciences Department at An-Najah and the International Relations Department at Lillehammer.
In turn, Dr. Rami Qawariq, Director of the Languages Centre, talked about the history sources utilized by western students, and compared the facts they offer with the students' firsthand experience in the Palestinian territories.
The delegation then went to the English Language and Literature Department to meet with a number of its students to discuss various topics related to their visit.
Following lunch two An-Najah students presented about education under occupation. Then two Norwegian students shared their thoughts on Islamophobia in Norway.
At the end of their visit, the delegation was given a tour of the Old City, Balata Camp and the Yafa Cultural Centre.
