A Delegation from the U.S Visits An-Najah

On Sunday, February 26th, 2017, Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of AN-Najah received a delegation of U.S experts. The group included researchers and hydrologists of a number of American universities and a representative of the U.S Consulate General Jerusalem.
At the beginning, Prof. Natsheh welcomed the delegation and briefed them on An-Najah history, campuses, students and programmes as well as collaboration with international universities, joint research programmes and the Arabic for Non-Native Speakers Institute.
He talked about the obstacles that encounter internationalization at the university and the political dilemma the university encounters when attracting international expertise. In addition, he addressed the economic challenges that encounter higher education in Palestine.
He also talked about the university’s academic achievements including ranking first place in Palestine according to Webometrics and ABET accreditation for 9 engineering programmes.
The delegation in turn thanked the University for the hospitability, and mentioned that they are working on a water collaboration project with the Palestinian Water Authority.
They also discussed creating initiatives between An-Najah and the Palestinian Water Authority to involve the university researchers and academics in the water project.
At the end of their visit, the delegation was given a tour of the New Campus to learn more about its faculties and research centres.
