The conference was over three days from August 25^th-27^th, 2016 and was sponsored by the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) and The Arab Federation of Clinical Biology (AFCB).

The conference activities included presentations of a number of research papers on disease diagnosis and using modern technology in operating classic and advanced laboratory tests.

The conference resulted in a number of recommendations; namely, establishing a consultative council for scientific research in collaboration with the Health Ministry and Union and researchers from Palestinian and Arab universities and encouraging researchers to submit research projects. The conference representatives also agreed upon following up laboratory medicine graduates and raising their competencies through allowing them to participate in national and international scientific conferences and enroll in continuing education programmes.

It is worth mentioning that President Mahmoud Abbas received the participating Arab and international delegations where he offered his full support to the Palestine Laboratory Medicine Union which is trying to obtain full membership in the International Laboratory Medicine Union.

Dr. Al-Khalil also participated in evaluating the proposed research papers and posters which are competing to obtain Dr. Atallah Rashmawi Award for Best Paper in Lab medicine.
