An-Najah Wins 3rd Place in the Nasser Bin Hamad International Youth Creativity Award
A group of Media students from An-Najah won 3rd place in the Nasser Bin Hamad International Youth Creativity Award- documentary film category.
The contest included 5773 projects by young students from 111 countries around the world in six areas: Science, Architecture, Graphic Design, Art, Photography and Filmmaking and was celebrated in Manama, Bahrain.
About the Film
Students Ragheed Tubsia, Anas Saadat, Huthaifa Baker and Yaser Abu Haija presented thefilm, “the Mountain Girl” which was produced in 2015 and won 2nd place in An-Najah’s 12th Documentary Film Festival.
The docudrama was about a Palestinian woman who lives on a small mountain in a Palestinian village and suffers everyday attacks by Israeli settlers.
The film demonstrated this woman’s persistence and determination to defend her land and home.
Significance
The film shed light on an important issue Palestinian people suffers everyday; that is, Israeli settlement and the settlers’ attacks.
The 20 minute film was translated to English to introduce the Palestinian cause as a just cause to the international audience.
About the Prize
The Prize is intended for all nationalities between the ages 14-30 years old with the awards reachingup to $11,000.00 USD for each category. The participation is categorized into three age groups for each of the aforementioned six areas.
The award aims at attracting and developing young talent while reducing the obstacles that face them by offering an opportunity to express themselves, their talents and their creativity. It also aims at strengthening ties between the youth of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the youth from all around the world to enable and promote exchanging experiences between youth all over the world and spread the spirit of the competitiveness to create a positive worldwide competition among participants.
