On Monday, March 28th, 2016, Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah received at his office Mr. Hervé Macro, French Consul General in Jerusalem and his delegation. The delegation included Mr. Augustin Favereau, Counselor of the Cooperation and Cultural Action in Jerusalem and Mr. Olivier Dufour, Attaché of the Institutional and the University Cooperation.


The French Language Department also invited the delegation to celebrate the French Language Open Day at the Zafer Al-Masri Auditorium in the Old Campus.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Prof. Natsheh welcomed the delegation and stated that the university aspires to continue the academic cooperation with the French Consulate. He also talked about the French language minor programme and the tri-lingual MA programme which was launched in cooperation with Birzeit University.

In his turn, Mr. Margo thanked An-Najah for organizing the day and stressed the importance of mutual cooperation between An-Najah and the French Consulate.

Dr. Abdul Khaliq Issa, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities talked about the activities held by the department as part of activating students’ role and developing their skills.

In the same context, Dr. Waseem Bishawi, Head of the French Department explained the importance of extracurricular activities in shaping students proficiencies and developing their communication skills.

Notes:

  • The ceremony was also attended By Ms Dalal Radwan, Personal Assistant to the Vice President for International Development and External Affairs at An-Najah in addition to a number of the faculty students and staff members.
  • The day also included other cultural and artistic activities such as visual reports on teaching French language in Palestine and the French language as a foreign language there in addition to theatrical performances by the university students.
