Clinical pharmacists can work in hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies where they advise for the most appropriate, effective and safest medication and prescribe the necessary over-the-counter drugs after evaluating the unique needs of their patients. Clinical pharmacists then observe the patients' recovery and make sure the medication is working as expected, making changes if there are any unexpected drug interactions or severe side effects.
Clinical Pharmacy graduates can join pharmacy faculties, to teach clinical pharmacy and to conduct research on optimization of drug therapies and the costs of health care. In addition, because of their expertise in drug therapy and their knowledge of the health care delivery system, Clinical Pharmacy graduates are actively recruited by major pharmaceutical manufacturers.
