Facilities

The programme has access to different facilities in the university such as the libraries and other classrooms.
Students’ training will take place at the Ministry of Health’s primary care centres and hospitals which are accredited by the university.

 

Industry

The programme aims at improving medical care services offered to people and preparing the graduates to be specialists in Family Medicine System (FMS) in Palestine. The graduates will be able to solve the FMS problems at minimum cost to avoid unnecessary fees and stop illegal practices with patients and their families. This will allow the Ministry of Health and health providers to offer prevention and care programmes and keep pace with the evolution of the demographic structure.
The programme also contributes to upgrading the level of services provided by primary health centres such as prevention services and dealing with chronic diseases and other health problems like obesity, diabetes, pressure, aging and psychological diseases.

The programme seeks to reduce bad and costly habits that consume the family health system such as smoking and poor eating habits leading to cardiovascular disease.

Moreover, it contributes to developing women health system in different stages of their lives and promoting prevention, treatment bases and early detection for diseases some of which are osteoporosis, breast cancer and others that can be early detected by the family doctor.

 

Teaching and Learning

  1. Interactive lectures:
    Classes in which students give presentations or participate in an activity that lets them work directly with the material.
  2. Field, Practical and Clinical Training
    Students train under the supervision of specialized trainers on learning about the medical history of the patient and identifying the clinical signs of the disease. Students will be also trained to read radiograph and electrocardiogram and laboratory reports and will have the opportunity to see some of the activities practiced in the outpatient clinic such as immunization and family planning.
  3. Roles Playing:
    Students play different roles to develop their communication skills and be ready to face ethical, medical and legal problems they may encounter during their work.
  4. Practical Skills:
    Students will be trained on surgery, obstetrics and gynecology skills.
 

Coursework and Assessment

  • The constant assessment includes weekly, semester and final exams.
  • Final Clinical Examination.
  • Clinical Reports.
