Career Opportunities

The programme graduates find job opportunities in primary health-care centres as specialists in family medicine.
At the end of this training program , graduates are expected to:

  1. Diagnose the medical problems and chronic or acute diseases
  2. Apply prevention and health promotion methods
  3. Improve relationships with patients and their families as a family doctor and match the community needs regarding health care
  4. Help patients to go to good health care centres
  5. Offer patients the necessary medical and social help
  6. Apply approved principles and practices regarding managing health services, research and quality assurance based on the primary health-care system
  7. Coordinate and manage the patient affairs at different health care levels
  8. Identify disease patterns and apply proactive care and prevention programmes
  9. Recognize the importance of continuing education based on scientific evidence
  10. Identify and deal with forensic medicine issues
 

Accrediting Organizations

  • The Ministry of Health and primary healthcare centres in the West Bank.    
  • IDFMP:

IDFMP is an international initiative that supports family medicine in Palestine that focuses on teaching, mentoring and solidarity for the development of family medicine. IDFMP has been developed in cooperation between An-Najah National University, the UK Society of Academic Primary Care, the Royal College of General Practitioners and the Vasco De Gamma movement (WONCA Europe). IDFMP aims at supporting and developing the Certificate of Higher Specialization in Family medicine programme offered at An-Najah. In fact, it aspires to offer the programme specialists and other health workers various training courses on primary health care. It also adds changes to the programme systems to promote practicing family medicine in Palestine.

  • MAP:
    MAP is a UK based charity working in Lebanon and occupied Palestine to provide access to essential health services for the most vulnerable Palestinians, such as children and people with disabilities. MAP works with its partners in the governmental and civil community to develop specialists’ abilities and skills in primary, secondary and tertiary health care, emergency services, maternal and child health and disability affairs for old people. MAP has been providing financial, logistical and technical support for IDFMP over the past three years.
