After five years of hard work, Dr. Ahmed Qabha from the English Language and Literature Department at An-Najah conducted a book titled: "Exile and Expatriation in Modern American and Palestinian Writing".

The book has recently been published by Palgrave Macmillan, an international academic and trade publishing company in the U.K.

The book examines the distinction between literary expatriation and exile through a 'contrapuntal reading' of modern Palestinian and American writing. It argues that exile, in the Palestinian case especially, is a political catastrophe; it is banishment by a colonial power.

It is worth mentioning that the book is based on the thoughts of the departed Palestinian American writer Edward Said regarding presenting a new vision of exile.
