Pioneering Palestinian Scholars Publish Groundbreaking Research in 'ACS Chemical Neuroscience' with Impact Factor 5
The Neuroscience Laboratory at An-Najah National University in Palestine has made a unique and significant contribution to neuroscience. It has achieved a milestone by publishing original scientific research in the prestigious journal "ACS Chemical Neuroscience, IF=5", renowned for its contributions to the field.
As anticipated, the Neuroscience Laboratory at An-Najah National University continues to excel in publishing research articles. Dr. Mohammad Qneibi, director and founder of the Neuroscience Laboratory at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, along with Dr. Mohammed Hawash from the Department of Pharmacy, have published a research study on the effects of certain manufactured drugs on the motor abilities of mice with Parkinson's disease. The study aimed to restore these abilities in-vivo. The study findings underscore the potential of the pharmaceutical chemical compounds produced in the labs of An-Najah University, offering a promising opportunity to develop novel pharmacological therapies to protect nerves inside the human body.
Moreover, this study examined the impact of these compounds on the biophysical characteristics of the nerve receptors called AMPA and confirmed their potential efficacy in protecting these receptors.
This project was accomplished in collaboration with Dr. Heba Natsheh from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Pharmacy Department, international universities and a group of students from Dr. Mohammed Qneibi's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (Sosana Badir, Mohammad Badair) and Dr. Mohammed Hawash's Pharmacy Department (Noor Mohammed, Lababa Abu Hamda).
This study is groundbreaking since it is the first to be published in an international publication by researchers from An-Najah National University and conducted in their labs. Thanks to the researchers involved and An-Najah University for their kind support and substantial commitment to sponsoring the scientific study. This aligns with the university's objective of promoting scientific research and advancement by increasing the quantity and quality of scientific articles authored by university researchers in international journals.
The release of this esteemed and innovative study paves the path for conducting clinical studies, which have the potential to unveil a novel medication capable of effectively repairing the impaired motor functions of those suffering from Parkinson's disease.
