An-Najah Organizes Scientific Symposium on Prospects of Cooperation with Palestinian German Science Bridge Program (PGSB)
The Deanship of Scientific Research in cooperation with the Faculty of Science at An Najah National University, organized a scientific symposium titled “The Reality of Scientific Research in the Faculty of Science and the Prospects of Cooperation with the Palestinian-German Scientific Bridge” on Thursday, Feb.17, 2022.
The Palestinian German Science Bridge Program -PGSB, which is a Joint Research and Education Program, is coordinated and implemented by the Academy and Juelich Research Center (FZJ), and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research BMBF.
In the opening speech, Prof. Raed Al-Koni, Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University welcomed the attendees and thanked the event participants and organizers for their efforts and stressed the importance of the symposium 's objectives.
The symposium focused on evaluating the cooperation in the context of the Palestinian German Science Bridge program, discussing progress and future outlook, forming new and strengthening existing research collaborations with the University’s Faculty of Science, and announcing the launch of the 7th Palestinian-German Science Bridge (PGSB) Call for student thesis projects, faculty exchanges for cooperation projects, proposals for research clusters, and Postdoc Stipends within the Returners Program.
The event included a speech given by Prof. Shehdeh Jodeh from the Chemistry Department. In his speech, Prof. Jodeh spoke about the importance of cooperation with the Palestinian-German Scientific Bridge as it offers a variety of opportunities to develop joint research and education programs. Also, some Ph.D. students who benefited from PGSB’s cooperation programs, talked about their experiences with the Bridge.
Dr. Samer Jarrar, Member of the Plant Protection Committee of the Palestine Academy for Science and Technology, pointed out the role of the academy in supporting scientific research. Moreover, he spoke about the opportunities that the German-Palestinian Scientific Bridge offers to the University’s faculty and students. The Dean of Scientific Research, Prof. Rawa Al Ramahi, thanked Dr. Jarrar for his participation and support for researchers.
