On Tuesday, November 14th, 2017, An-Najah National University hosted Dr. Mohcine Chraibi who is a researcher in Julich Research Centre, one of the largest interdisciplinary research centres in Europe in super computing, neuroscience and biophysics research.


Dr. Chraibi's visit, organized by Prof. Sameer Abu Eisheh, staff member at the Civil Engineering Department, was part of the Palestinian German Science Bridge (PGSB) agreement on scientific research.

Dr. Chraibi first met with Professor Maher Natsheh, the Acting President, Dr. Mohammad El-Amleh, the Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Khaled Sahli, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and IT and Dr. Abdul Rahim Abu Safa, Coordinator of Scholarships Office at An-Najah, to discuss further means of mutual cooperation between An-Najah and the Centre.

The scientific committee of the Civil Engineering Department in cooperation with An-Najah's American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) - Students Branch also hosted the researcher in a lecture titled "Pedestrian Dynamics: Experiment, Measurement and Simulation".

Dr. Chraibi first briefed the attendees on the Centre's work and activities. Then he talked about one of his studies, which focuses on pedestrians' behavior under different circumstances. He mentioned that the study leads to different facility and traffic safety designs that serve the pedestrians' needs.

At the end of the lecture, Dr. Chraibi answered the attendees' questions on the topic.

The visit also included holding meetings with a number of the faculty staff members and interested students to discuss possible means of mutual cooperation regarding scientific research and MSc scholarships.
