U.S. News and World Report is a multi-platform publisher of news and information which publishes annual print and e-book versions of its authoritative rankings of Best Colleges, Best Graduate Schools and Best Hospitals. The rankings depends on several indicators such as the academic reputation, the employer reputation, publications, cited publications, percent of publications cited, citations, field-weighted citation impact and others.

The Arab universities rankings are based on ibilometric data and research metrics provided by Scopus, part of the Elsevier Research Intelligence portfolio, and separate academic and employer reputation surveys conducted in the Arab region by Ipsos in MENA, a market research firm. These rankings focus specifically on institutions' reputation among Arab region academics and employers as well as the universities' academic research output and performance; they do not evaluate institutions' separate undergraduate or graduate programmes.

On this occasion, Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah expressed his pride of the new ranking and gave credit for it to the university’s hard working staff for their consistent efforts to develop scientific research and higher education and wished the university to achieve more academic progress.
