In a step that further reinforces An-Najah National University’s growing local and international presence, the UNESCO Chair in Sustainable Water Resources Management at the University has formally joined the Global University Network for Innovation (GUNi) as a permanent member. The Chair is represented in Palestine by its Chairholder, Anan Jayyousi.

This membership follows an official communication issued by the Association of Catalan Public Universities (ACUP), which welcomed An-Najah University—represented by the UNESCO Chair—as a permanent member of the network. The letter highlighted the strategic importance of the University’s participation within an international framework that brings together approximately 350 academic and research institutions worldwide, including UNESCO Chairs, universities, research centers, and specialized higher education networks.

Joining GUNi opens wide prospects for academic and research cooperation, as well as active participation in international initiatives and programs aimed at advancing higher education, strengthening social engagement, and promoting sustainable development on a global scale.

This achievement marks a significant milestone in An-Najah University’s ongoing efforts to expand its international engagement and further consolidate its position as a leading academic institution in sustainability, water resources management, and innovative higher education.
