Dr. Mohammed Al-Sayed, Director of the Energy Research Unit at the Scientific Centers of An-Najah National University, took part in a workshop titled “Environmental Protection and Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through Smart Solutions,” held in Cairo from 2 to 3 December 2024.

The workshop was organized by the Department of Science and Scientific Research at the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), in cooperation with the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO), the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the National Research Centre.

The event brought together representatives from universities and research institutions across several Arab countries, including Egypt, Lebanon, Mauritania, Tunisia, Libya, Morocco, Yemen, Jordan, and Oman.

During the workshop, Dr. Al-Sayed delivered a presentation titled “Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Their Role in Improving the Energy Sector in Palestine.” He highlighted key challenges facing the development of the energy sector in Palestine and explored potential solutions using artificial intelligence technologies.

He also presented a computational model based on Random Forest and Neural Networks algorithms to simplify the calculation of thermal loads in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The model demonstrated a high level of accuracy—reaching up to 98%—significantly reducing the time and effort required by design engineers.

This participation reflects An-Najah’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its international engagement and advance its vision of promoting sustainable development—particularly in the field of clean energy—through its scientific centers and academic faculties.
