NVAR at An-Najah Holds a Training Course on the Use of Virtual and Augmented Reality Technologies in Education
The “Najah Virtual Augmented Reality” Center (NVAR) at An-Najah National University held a two-day training course on the use of virtual and augmented reality technologies in the educational process and their impact on improving educational outcomes and improving teachers’ performance in the classroom. The training was organized for the University’s faculty members on Monday, January23, 2023.
The event included the participation of Prof. Allam Musa, NVAR Director, and a number of the University’s academic staff. The course was given by Mr. Ali Ezz El-Din from Morocco via Zoom.
Prof. Musa welcomed the attendees and commended the academic staff’s efforts in promoting education through the incorporation of cutting-edge technology. This would create an interactive learning environment with students by using interactive 3D solutions based on Virtual Reality technology.
The course aimed at clarifying the impact of using virtual and augmented reality technology in education, its advantages and areas of application, providing the academic staff with hands-on training so they can develop interactive classes, and identifying common educational models.
Additionally, it aimed at producing qualified teachers who are proficient in augmented reality technologies with the aim of giving students many useful applications in the fields of medicine, engineering, and education. This will be achieved through the use of cutting-edge tools and technology in simulating the real world and achieving the highest level of meaningful interaction.
The course discussed several topics including the importance of virtual reality in providing a diverse virtual learning environment that is difficult to access in the real world. It also included a discission about the differences between virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), which are the two most used technological developments at the present time.
The NVAR was launched in April 2022 in cooperation between An-Najah University and EON Reality, the global leader in Augmented and Virtual Reality-based knowledge and skills transfer for industry and education. The Center aims at providing interactive 3D solutions for business and education based on VR technology. It also seeks to advance academic and research activities at the university, support local and regional efforts in the industrial and service sectors, and offer the technical assistance and training required to produce competent staff who can adapt quickly to changing market demands.
