Lecture on Building Damage During Israel's Bombardment of Gaza
An-Najah University’s Urban Planning and Disaster Risk Reduction Center in collaboration with the Palestinian Engineers Syndicate hosted a two-hour lecture titled "Post-Disaster Rapid Assessment of Building Damage and Losses of the last Israel's Bombardment of Gaza."
Prof. Jalal Dabbeek, Director of the Center, as well as the President of the Palestinian Engineers Association, gave an analysis of the damage, losses and danger resulting from the recent bombardment by Israel across the Gaza Strip.
The lecture was attended by a group of engineers and from several countries. Models from other countries that have faced similar levels of damage were presented with the aim of assessing how the destruction of infrastructure and demolished residential and commercial buildings can be successfully reconstructed through the Post-Disaster Rapid Assessment tools. This also included an overview of the rapid evaluation process of dangers in accordance with international standards as well as effective documentation.
