An-Najah National University represented by Dr. Sana Al-Sarghali, Professor of Constitutional Law and holder of the UNESCO Chair for Human Rights at the university, participated in a workshop organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Ramallah. The workshop aimed at promoting the culture of human rights and gender among higher education institutions. It comes as part of a project "Amal", implemented in partnership with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.

The workshop was attended by Mr. Khaled Mufleh, representing the Deanship of Student Affairs in An-Najah University. The participants addressed the reality of human rights and gender in institutions of higher education, and discussed the methods of developing a human rights course and adopting it in the National Authority for Accreditation and Quality.

Dr. Sarghali explained the importance of the UNESCO Chair in supporting the university activities and projects related to human rights, and the importance of cooperation between the Palestinian higher educational institutions to invest in research and academic projects and initiatives that target change within students and the local community.

The participating universities expressed their interest in the work of UNESCO Chair, and their desire to build connections with it, especially during elections, in which democracy is an inseparable principle of the human rights.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research praised the workshop attempt to promote the culture of human rights and gender among the society through higher education institutions within the framework of its societal responsibility, as the ministry also promotes gender equality, women's economic empowerment, and enhance their participation in community events, in addition to enhancing contribution to cultural integration for law enforcement in Palestine.

The workshop resulted on an agreement over several activities that the ministry will implement through the National Authority for Accreditation and Quality, the Gender Unit, and the Student Affairs Department in the General Administration for University Education in partnership with higher education institutions.
