The Community Service Center at An-Najah National University, in partnership with the Seeris Village Council and the Ministry of Agriculture, launched a targeted tree-planting campaign in the town of Seeris on Thursday, 18 December 2025. The initiative resulted in the planting of 703 forest and fruit trees, with the active participation of 56 volunteers, reflecting a strong spirit of community engagement and social responsibility.

The campaign included the planting of 365 forest trees in several locations, most notably at the town’s main entrance, along the new road leading to the woodland areas, and on both sides of the road adjacent to the boys’ secondary school. The activity aimed to enhance the visual landscape and expand green cover in public spaces.

In addition, 338 olive trees were distributed to 30 families in need following a social assessment conducted by the Village Council. Beneficiary families included the elderly, persons with disabilities, patients, and unemployed individuals. The campaign also included the planting of 19 olive trees in the gardens of Seeris Boys’ Secondary School.

The Community Service Center expressed its appreciation to the Ministry of Agriculture for providing the forest trees and commended the Seeris Village Council for its significant role in ensuring the success of the campaign through logistical support, as well as its commitment to irrigation and follow-up care to ensure the sustainability of the planted trees.

This initiative forms part of the University’s broader afforestation campaign, which aims to expand green spaces, raise environmental awareness, and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to biodiversity conservation and climate action.

The Community Service Center affirmed that the campaign will continue in several towns and villages, targeting residential entrances, public lands, and school gardens, as part of a long-term vision to build a healthy and sustainable environment that serves present needs while safeguarding the future of coming generations.
