An-Najah Contributes to the 2026–2030 Action Plan for the South-South University Cooperation Network and Participates in Results Announcement Ceremony
An-Najah National University played a central role in developing the 2026–2030 Action Plan for the South-South University Cooperation Network (SUCN)—a global initiative jointly led by UNESCO-IESALC and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) to empower universities in the Global South as key actors in scientific research, innovation, and sustainable development.
The University was represented in the planning process by Prof. Sameer Abu Eisheh and Dr. Abdelhaleem Khader, who took part in specialized working groups that drafted the plan’s core themes and practical objectives. Their contributions focused on strengthening capacity-building in higher education, advancing university governance and sustainability, promoting collaborative scientific research, and enhancing innovation and technology across institutions in the Global South.
An-Najah’s participation reflects its position as one of the leading universities within the network. The University contributed notably to shaping the sustainability governance framework for higher education and to formulating indicators that support academic institutions in aligning their policies and practices with the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
An-Najah National University also joined the ceremony announcing the project results and the joint action plan, held on 25 November 2025 through UNESCO’s platform. The University was represented by Dr. Loai Aburaida, who took part in the discussions on the plan’s implementation and highlighted the importance of international partnerships in reinforcing education and innovation efforts across the Global South.
The University’s contribution to the design and implementation of the SUCN 2026–2030 Action Plan aligns with its strategic vision to enhance its international presence, support the development of the higher education sector in Palestine, and strengthen the role of Palestinian universities as active partners in global cooperation, sustainability, and innovation.
