An-Najah University Signs Cooperation Charter to Bridge Legal Education and Practice
An-Najah National University, represented by Dr. Noor Adas, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science, took part in the National Consultative Meeting organized by the Public Prosecution in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education and Palestinian universities in Ramallah. The meeting was attended by Attorney General Akram Al-Khatib, Minister of Higher Education Prof. Amjad Barham, along with a number of university presidents, deans, senior members of the Public Prosecution, academics, and representatives of civil society institutions, with the support of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.
Dr. Adas emphasized the University’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with justice institutions in order to prepare law students through practical training programs that develop their academic and legal skills in line with labor market needs, while also promoting legal awareness in society. She noted that the Faculty recognizes the importance of integrating theoretical education with practical application—an approach embodied in its training programs, research initiatives, and community partnerships with law enforcement institutions.
As part of the meeting, Dr. Fadi Shadid, Professor of Criminal Law, presented a proposal for a practical training program for law students within the offices of the Public Prosecution. The program combines theoretical and applied components to provide students with direct, hands-on experience. It consists of two stages: a theoretical foundation phase introducing students to the structure, functions, and professional ethics of the Public Prosecution, followed by a practical field phase in which students are assigned real tasks such as drafting arrest warrants and indictments, following up on case files, and participating in preliminary investigations—thus strengthening their legal competencies and preparing them to engage effectively in the justice system.
During the meeting, a Cooperation Charter was signed between the Public Prosecution, the Ministry of Higher Education, and Palestinian universities. The charter establishes an institutional framework for joint collaboration aimed at bridging academic education with practical application through sustainable training programs. It also seeks to promote human rights—particularly children’s rights—and to advance the educational environment in faculties of law, thereby enhancing student capabilities and professional readiness.
