The Community Service Center at An-Najah National University, in collaboration with the Directorate of Education in Nablus Governorate, has successfully concluded the first phase of its tree-planting campaign, aimed at expanding green spaces across the city’s schools. The initiative focuses on planting in areas with reliable water sources to ensure proper irrigation during the summer months.

Since its launch last fall, the campaign has led to the planting of 464 trees in 19 schools and charitable institution gardens, including 277 olive saplings, 15 citrus trees, and 45 forest trees. In addition, university students participating in the Community Service course have planted 127 fruit and forest trees in their home gardens across various cities and villages, fostering a deeper connection to the land and promoting agricultural awareness.

The campaign has directly benefited multiple schools, including: Yasser Arafat, the Turkish School, the Industrial School, Ali Khaleel Hamad, Al-Makhfiya, Al-Wakala, Sheikh Mohammad Tafaha, Nasser Al-Ladawi, Shuhada Beit Wazan, Al-Qur’an Academy, Jawaharlal Nehru, Ibrahim Sanober, Al-Quds Mixed School, Sarem Al-Din Al-Najmi, Qabalan Girls’ Primary School, and Qabalan Boys’ Secondary School.

The initiative targeted schools with suitable garden spaces, involving students in hands-on planting activities and providing environmental education sessions. These sessions emphasized the religious, national, and ecological significance of trees while highlighting their potential as a financial resource for schools and communities.

This campaign is part of An-Najah National University’s "If You Have a Sapling, Plant It" initiative, which aims to green Nablus by planting trees in schools, parks, and public institutions. Over the next three years, the university plans to plant 3,000 trees, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development and environmental conservation.
