An-Najah University and the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture Forge Strategic Partnership


An-Najah National University, through its Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture. This collaboration, formalized on Thursday, July 4, 2024, is set to advance the project titled "Enhancing Adaptation Planning and Adoption of Climate Resilient Agriculture in Palestine."
The agreement aims to develop a dedicated website for the project, which will facilitate the study of the impacts of innovative agricultural practices and explore their dissemination to local farmers. The initiative will also focus on capacity building through comprehensive training and knowledge dissemination.
The signing ceremony was attended by deveral figures including Dr. Abdulsalam Khayyat, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Mr. Raed Debiy, President's Assistant for Community Affairs; Dr. Belal Rahhal, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine; Eng. Ahmed Al Fares; and the Director of Agriculture in Nablus.
This project is supported in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF). It will involve the proposal and implementation of sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural practices at the Nasiriyah Agricultural Research Center, located in the Nablus Governorate. Key focus areas include conservation agriculture, reduced tillage, and intercropping techniques.
The agreement underscores An-Najah University's commitment to collaborating with agricultural sector institutions to deliver innovative solutions for environmental and climate challenges. The university's specialized research centers provides essential knowledge and training to rural communities, aiming to achieve sustainable agricultural development. This effort is designed to enhance farmers' living standards, boost agricultural productivity, and align with sustainable development goals amidst evolving climate conditions.
