On February 22, 2023, An-Najah National University, hosted the launching ceremony of the Bassmat Hayat (Imprint of Life in Arabic) Association for Cancer Patient Support.


The event took place at the Faculty of Law Auditorium in the University’s New Campus and was attended by members of the Association, representatives of governmental and private institutions, members of the Palestinian Medical Relief Society and Jordan Palliative Care Society staff, as well as members of the University's academic and administrative staff, representatives of An-Najah Federation of Medical Students Association, and several interested university students.

The Bassmat Hayat Association aims to provide financial and moral support to cancer patients and their families, and raise awareness about cancer prevention and treatment. During the ceremony, speakers highlighted the importance of supporting cancer patients and the role of the Association in assisting those in need.

The launching ceremony featured a keynote address by Mr. Raed Al-Dabai, Assistant to the President for Community Affairs who highlighted the University's commitment to serving the community through scientific, healthcare, and educational initiatives. He commended the vision of the Bassmat Hayat Association, which aims to provide psychological, social, and material aid to cancer patients. 

He also acknowledged the efforts of all supporters and volunteers, emphasizing the importance of such charitable events in motivating students to engage in philanthropic work and strengthening the University's role in the community. Furthermore, He mentioned the strategic development plan of An-Najah University Hospital, which prioritizes cancer care.

In her speech, Dr. Ameera Al-Hindi, Head of the Bassmat Hayat Association, said: "We commend An-Najah University for its efforts to support cancer patients and their families. We look forward to continued collaboration to improve the lives of those affected by this disease."

A video showcasing the Association's achievements and activities was presented, followed by an artistic segment during which Hamza Al-Qutb, a young cancer survivor, shared his journey of treatment and recovery, highlighting the importance of willpower and determination in overcoming the challenges posed by the disease.
