The Institute of Water and Environmental Studies at An-Najah National University held the first national workshop on air pollution. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about air pollution in Palestine, as there is a lack of sufficient awareness about this topic among the community and individuals, since air pollution is unseen. The workshop also discussed the impact of air pollution on health. 


The workshop was opened by Dr. Khaled Al-Sahili, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University, who talked about air pollution and the importance of focusing on this topic. Dr. Randy Martin from Utah State University, USA, talked about using low-cost measuring devices to assess and study dust storms.

Other lecturers talked about the various types of air pollution, including the cafes that contain high air pollution because of the smoking shisha. Other types include indoor air pollution, pollution resulting from painting in carpentry workplace, pollution resulting from burning electronic waste. The attendees also discussed the impact of air pollution on health, especially on the lungs efficiency.
