The competition included 83 participants from more than 13 different Arab countries and consisted of the science field: "technical researches in developing the energy saving devices and their quality"; the arts field: "the Arabic personality in the modern Arabic novels" and the Arabic cities field: "the role of the cities in childcare".

Eng. Shadeed obtained the science field award through her MSc thesis titled: “SOLAR DRYING AND UTILIZATION OF SLUDGE PRODUCED AT WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS”.

The King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) was established by a royal decree in 2001 as a non-governmental organization.

The award aims at celebrating and supporting young men and women throughout the Arab region who have pioneered innovative solutions to urgent social, economic and environmental challenges. It also aims at promoting creative problem-solving and cross-border dialogue and cooperation among Arab youth.

KAAYIA is awarded to youth, ages 18 to 30 across the Arab region. Applications are reviewed against three core criteria: the applicant’s leadership qualities and the innovativeness of their approaches, his or her capacity to form and maintain partnerships, and the impact and sustainability of their projects.

The final selection of award recipients is made by an independent assessment committee of experts from throughout the Arab region. Each winner receives a monetary award to expand the scope and impact of their work, while all ten fellows who make it through to the final phase receive a capacity building training and recognition for their exemplary work.

Eng Shadeed obtained her BSc in chemical engineering from An-Najah in 2001 and worked there as a teaching and research assistant.

In 2012, she obtained the DAAD scholarship to continue her MSc at the Jordan University of Science and Technology.

On this occasion, Eng. Shadeed thanked An-Najah and the Jordan University for supporting her to achieve this progress.

In turn, Dr. Husni Odeh, Head of the Chemical Engineering Department commended Eng. Shadeed’s academic and research achievements as she was a top student during her BSc and MSc.

عملت بعدها لمدّة سنة كاملة كمساعدة بحث وتدريس في قسم الهندسة الكيميائية في جامعة النجاح.

تفوقها وطموحها في إكمال الدراسة مكّناها من الحصول على منحة DAAD عام 2012، لتكمل دراسة الماجستير في جامعة العلوم والتكنولوجيا في المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية وفي تخصص هندسة كيميائية متقدّمة، وتتخرج عام 2014 بمعدل 92.5 ومن بين الأوائل على دفعتها.

عادت ميس بعدها لجامعتها الأم جامعة النجاح الوطنية، وهي تعمل منذ ذلك الوقت كمحاضرة في قسم الهندسة الكيميائية في الجامعة.

تميّز رسالة الماجستير التي قدّمتها ميس جعل المشرفين عليها من جامعة العلوم والتكنولوجيا يتواصلون معها من جديد ويشجعونها على الإشتراك في مسابقة الملك عبد الله الثاني إبن الحسين للإبداع.

ولأن لكل مجتهدٍ نصيب، إستطاعت ميس أن تحصل على المركز الأول في مسابقة شهدت مشاركة أكثر من 83 مشروعاً.

وبهذه المناسبة تتقدم ميس بالشكر الجزيل لإدارة جامعة النجاح ولكلية الهندسة وتكنولوجيا المعلومات وبالأخص قسم الهندسة الكيميائية، على كل الدعم الذي قُدّم لها في سبيل المنافسة والفوز بالجائزة.

كا تتقدم ميس بالشكر لمشرفيها من كلية العلوم والتكنولوجيا الأردنية على ما قدموه لها من مساعدة وتخص بالذكر الدكتور حسن عبد اللطيف، والدكتور فهمي أبو الرب، والدكتور عوني العتوم.

ومن جانبه يقول الدكتور حسني عودة، رئيس قسم الهندسة الكيميائية وقسم هندسة الطاقة والبيئة وقسم هندسة المواد في جامعة النجاح الوطنية "لم يُفاجأ قسم الهندسة الكيميائية بهذه الجائزة التي حصلت عليها المهندسة ميس شديد، فميس كانت الأولى على الدفعة في مرحلة البكالوريوس في قسم الهندسة الكيميائية في جامعة النجاح ومن أوائل دفعة الماجستير في جامعة العلوم والتكنولوجيا، كما امتازت أبحاث خريجي القسم منذ زمن بعيد بالتميز، وحصد القسم معظم الجوائز التي شارك بها محلياً وعالمياً، وهذا دليل على تميز القسم وجودة التعليم وحسن أداء الهيئة التدريسية، ونشكر إدارة الجامعة على توفير كل ما يلزم من تجهيزات في المختبرات  للمحافظة على هذا المستوى الإبداعي لخريجي القسم ومدرسيه".

يُذكر أنه تم الإعلان عن الفائزين بجائزة الملك عبد الله الثاني بن الحسين للإبداع في الحقول الثلاث، وسيتم إستلام الجائزة في حفل خاص سيُقام على مستوى المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية.
