Program Description

An-Najah National University is initiating program to prepare Qualified Midwives to serve the people of the West Bank and Nablus area in raising the standards of mother and child health care.
It was shown that when the Qualified Midwife will be critically a ware of evidence-based measures which when implemented have been shown to reduce maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality, and appreciate how good midwife practice play a positive role in further reducing maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity (Mary Sidebotham, page 1034 in Henderson & Macdonald 2004) 
The Midwifery program is 4 years, 145 credit hours. The curriculum has been described to be completed within four years in eight semesters.
The ultimate goal of midwifery is to assist individuals, families, and communities to achieve optimal health within the parameters of applicable social, cultural, and environmental systems. The professional midwife consults with other health professionals, forms independent clinical judgments, and makes autonomous decisions based on a systematic problem solving approach. Students and faculty are committed to principles of shared responsibilities for continuous learning, self-assessment, and practice improvement.
