Also, the senior students act as ambassadors of the department to the industry during their practical training course-works of 320 contact-hours. In addition, each year, groups of graduation project are executed through partnership with the local society and industries.

Teaching and Learning

All students in the Civil EngineeringDepartment are full time students. They attend classes during the day; no evening classes are offered. The academic year is composed of two 16-week semesters (fall and spring) and one summer term of 8 weeks.
The student has to successfully complete a total of 161 credit hours. Each credit hour represents a 50 minute lecture for 16 week duration for theoretical classes and 2-3 hours for 1 credit of lab classes. The lectures are given in a face to face contact mode. Some lectures of selected courses are published on the website of the university (Zajel).
The university has developed communication software called Zajel. Zajel is used, inter alias, as a communication tool between the University, the Faculty, the Department and the Students. Through Zajel it is possible to disseminate advertisement, upload electronic lectures and send instructions and homework or dispatch students’ grades.
The university has invested in electronic learning. Entire lectures of a number of courses have been recorded; these records have been uploaded to the university’s information based system “Zajel” which enables student to follow up and watch their courses. To elaborate on this, a description is provided below about Zajel Information System.
