In Biology, student must complete 36 credit hours of ‎approved graduate courses in areas of biology, biochemistry, ‎microbiology, genetics, ecology, immunology, biostatistics, research ‎methods, and physiology.‎

Two options are available to complete the M.S. degree requirements: a ‎thesis option and a non-thesis option.‎
The thesis option is designed for individuals planning careers as ‎experimental biologists, including those who may wish to pursue a Ph.D. ‎This option is available on a competitive basis. Students choosing the ‎thesis option must complete 36 credit hours with grade point average of ‎not less than 2.5 (75%). Students must also prepare a written thesis ‎based on research carried out by the student and under the supervision ‎of at least one supervisor.

The non-thesis option is intended as a degree to meet the needs of ‎teachers, science administrators, policy makers in the biology, and ‎others. Students who elect the non-thesis option must complete at least a ‎total 36 credit hours with grade point average of not less than 2.5 (75%). ‎In addition, the students must pass the written M.S. comprehensive ‎examination in biostatistics, biochemistry,   microbiology, molecular ‎genetics, animal physiology, ecology, research methodology, and cell ‎biology.
