Mission

The Faculty of Nursing upholds An-Najah National University educational mission in the provision of quality education at graduate levels. The Faculty of Nursing is committed to prepare Community Mental Health Nurses at graduate level capable of providing quality of mental health care to individuals, families, and community in a variety of settings, and specialized nurses at the graduate level who are highly qualified professional mental health nurses in education, research, and specialized practice and be able to enhance the capacity of the community in dealing with mental health problems to provide comprehensive community mental health services - therapy, training and research

 

Vision

The vision of the Faculty of Nursing at An-Najah National University is to be a leading institute for graduate nursing education, research and community services at both the national and regional levels. Our vision is also to promote the well-being of Palestinian society and combat the stigma attached to mental illness in the Palestinian society.

 

Teaching and Learning

Teaching techniques included didactic lectures, case based discussion ‎groups and role playing. Informal feedback informed a flexible teaching ‎package. Assessment tools designed specifically for this course ‎included first, second and final exam and a clinical evaluation.

Short introductory talks that invite discussion, and mental health skills ‎can be taught using role play. The content of such training should be ‎driven by perceived local needs, and developed in conjunction with ‎local leaders and teachers within primary care services. Further ‎research will be needed to establish the impact on clinical outcomes.

 

Coursework and Assessment

A student is granted a Master Degree Community Mental Health ‎Nursing after the successful completion of the following ‎requirements:‎

  • Finishing mandatory courses determined by the ‎Department.
  • Completing a total 40 credit hours with grade point average ‎of not less   than 2.5 (75%).
  • Registration and enrolment will be undertaken on annual ‎bases trough an entrance exam hold by the Committee of ‎the Program.
