An-Najah University's AIAS Branch Honored as Best Worldwide
The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) at An-Najah National University has achieved global recognition by winning the prestigious title of the best branch among 221 branches worldwide. This marks a historic moment as it is only the second time that a branch outside the United States has received this esteemed award in the more than 60-year history of the AIAS.
An-Najah University's AIAS Branch secured this remarkable title after a comprehensive evaluation of the work and accomplishments of AIAS branches globally. The fourth administrative body of the An-Najah AIAS Branch, through relentless dedication and hard work, played a pivotal role in achieving this international recognition.
A distinguished delegation from An-Najah University, comprising students from both the current and previous award-winning bodies, was invited to Washington, D.C., to receive the award and attend the annual AIAS Grassroots conference. The delegation included Alia Al-Danbak, former Secretary of the AIAS branch; Nadine Hashaykeh, former Community Activities Officer and current Secretary; Tulin Saed, current President; Nour Awba, Finance Officer; Abdulrahman Hawash, Public Relations Officer; and Lynn Abu Omar, Designer.
Tulin Saed, President of An-Najah University's AIAS Branch, expressed the significance of this achievement, stating, "This win serves as a powerful motivation for future branches and their administrative bodies to continue striving for excellence. It reinforces our commitment to elevating the name of An-Najah University and its students on both local and global stages. During the conference, we had the honor of delivering a speech about Palestine, its rich civilization, and the challenges it faces. The audience's standing ovation and the moment of silence in honor of Palestinian martyrs were deeply moving, symbolizing our pride and honor for our homeland."
The conference also provided an invaluable opportunity for the delegation to visit prominent architectural firms in the United States, where they gained insights into modern architectural practices that will shape their professional futures. "This award is not just a testament to our hard work; it tells the story of our educational and human journey, highlighting our mission to represent Palestine with pride in international arenas," Saed added.
The AIAS Grassroots conference, held annually in Washington, D.C., is a premier gathering of architecture students from around the world. The event features intensive workshops, architectural tours, and opportunities for students to network with leading professionals in the field. The conference culminates with the presentation of honorary awards, including the "Best International Branch" award.
Last year, An-Najah University’s AIAS branch made history by becoming the first branch outside the United States to receive the "Best International Branch" award. This year, under new leadership, the branch once again brought honor to Palestine by securing this prestigious title.
The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) is a non-profit organization with a global reach, dedicated to supporting architecture students in their professional development.
