An-Najah National University is pleased to announce that Dr. Sanaa Al Sarghali, the UNESCO Chairholder for Human Rights, Democracy, and Peace, has been appointed to represent Arab countries in the Advisory Board of the Global Education Monitoring Report. This distinguished appointment, which will last for two years, underscores the growing influence and academic leadership of Palestinian scholars in global forums.

Dr. Al Sarghali was nominated for this position by the Palestinian Delegation to UNESCO, with her nomination receiving unanimous endorsement from the Arab group. The appointment was subsequently ratified by the Director-General of UNESCO.

She recently participated in high-level discussions at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, where the Global Education Monitoring Report was reviewed. This report is recognized as one of the most significant international evaluations of education, focusing on the attainment of Sustainable Development Goal 4. This goal seeks to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and to promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

The Advisory Board of the Global Education Monitoring Report is composed of a select group of prominent donors, experts, and civil society representatives. Members include high-level representatives from UN multilateral agencies, bilateral organizations, non-governmental organizations, civil society groups, and networks, as well as directors of UNESCO education institutes and education specialists from developing countries worldwide. The Board meets annually to provide strategic advice and feedback on the Report, shaping its future direction, themes, and communication strategies.

Professor Abdel Nasser Zaid, President of An-Najah National University, expressed his deep pride in Dr. Al Sarghali’s appointment, noting that her selection is a reflection of the university’s prominent role in global educational and sustainable development dialogues.
