Dr. Saida Affouneh of An-Najah University: First Palestinian Woman Awarded the Prize of Virtue and Knowledge by the Mediterranean Universities Union in Italy



Dr. Saida Affouneh, representing An-Najah National University, has achieved the distinction of being the first Palestinian woman to receive the prestigious "Virtue and Knowledge" Award from Mediterranean Universities Union in Italy. She has also been honored with the title "The Woman of High Morality”, and received the distinguished "Mare Nostrum" Special Award.
In a prestigious ceremony held in Porto Cesareo, Dr. Saida Affouneh was honored with the distinguished "Virtue and Knowledge" Award by the Mediterranean Universities Union. Recognized for her pioneering contributions to e-learning and innovative educational models during crises, her nomination by the Mediterranean Universities Union highlights her profound impact on educational theory and ethical frameworks. Affouneh's extensive publications have reshaped educational paradigms and policies, extending her influence beyond Palestine to Mediterranean countries through model dissemination and scholarly contributions.
Throughout her career, Dr. Saida Affouneh has held various leadership roles and collaborated with national institutions, local universities, and international organizations. She is celebrated for her ability to integrate educational theory with advanced technological expertise while promoting local cultural values and global educational standards, fostering a harmonious balance amidst cultural diversity.

During her speech, Dr. Affouneh thanked the event organizers and Dr. Khayria Rasas, President of the Mediterranean Universities Union, for the nomination. She also expressed gratitude to An-Najah National University for its supportive environment and to her family for their unwavering support. Dr. Affouneh dedicated the award to the resilient children and women of Palestine striving for freedom.
After receiving the award, Dr. Saida Affouneh presented a scholarly paper titled "Education, Technology, and Their Impact on the Future of Mediterranean Countries During Wars" at the conference "The Future of Mediterranean Countries: Where to?"
During the event, Dr. Saida Affouneh discussed Palestine's innovative use of technology to enhance education. She underscored the transformative role of education in empowering communities and fostering cultural and social cohesion, promoting dignified dialogue and human rights advocacy.
Additionally, a five-minute video showcasing Dr. Saida Affouneh's achievements across volunteering, culture, education, technology, women's empowerment, curriculum development, educational philosophy, scientific research, and ethical leadership was presented.
