On Wednesday, May 10, 2023, the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at An-Najah National University commenced the highly anticipated Fifth Refereed Conference of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences. The conference, under the title "Economic Sustainability in the Era of Industrial Revolution 5.0" CESS 2023, took place at the University's Old Campus.


Distinguished guests, including esteemed members from academia, renowned industry professionals, and representatives from various agencies and institutions, both governmental and private, gathered at the event.

 Notable attendees included Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Khayyat, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Raafat Al-Jallad, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences; Mr. Muhammad Al-Rimawi, General Manager of Tamkeen Insurance; Mr. Nizam Zamil, Director of the West Bank Branches of the Arab Islamic Bank (conference sponsors); Prof. Khaled Al-Husseini, Professor of Accounting and Financial Management at the University of Portsmouth in the UK; Palestinian businessman Munib Al-Masri, and Prof. Abdel Nasser Nour, Chairman of the conference's Preparatory Committee. The event also witnessed the active participation of experts, researchers, dedicated faculty members, administrative staff, and enthusiastic students from An-Najah National University.

The conference aimed to address the pressing challenges faced by the global community, with a particular focus on the delicate local circumstances that necessitate innovative solutions. By fostering collaborative efforts, the conference aimed to achieve economic and environmental sustainability.

Moreover, it aimed to examine the elements constituting a resilient economy and provide comprehensive frameworks and contexts for analysis. The conference also aimed to showcase successful practices from different countries in the field while emphasizing the importance of implementing sustainable economic measures to foster long-term growth.

During the conference sessions, Prof. Al-Husseini shared valuable insights via Zoom, emphasizing the significance of the event and its overarching goals. The conference endeavored to explore the obstacles hindering economic development and progress, scrutinizing various aspects such as economic, financial, social, cultural, administrative, and technological challenges.

Structured around six distinct sessions, the conference delved into diverse themes centered on the pivotal role of economics, finance, and accounting in attaining economic sustainability in the era of the Fifth Industrial Revolution. Additionally, it explored the contributions of management, social sciences, politics, public relations, marketing, and media in advancing sustainable economic practices.
