An-Najah National University hosted the Scientific Forum for Nature Protection, Palestine meeting.

The meeting aimed at discussing projects implementation to sustain biodiversity in Palestine in collaboration with the Environment Quality Authority and a number of international institutions.  


Dr. Raed Al-Koni, Forum member and Lecturer at the Faculty of Sciences at An-Najah supervised organizing of the meeting.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Khalid Sawalha, Forum President, Al-Quds University, Dr. Rola Jadallah from the Arab American University, Dr. Samer Jarrar from the Palestine Academy for Science and Technology, Mr. Imad Al-Atrash from Wild Life Protection Association in Palestine and Mr. Ahmed Al-Omari, researcher in biodiversity.

Moreover, Mr. Sharif Jbour, Middle East Programme Officer at Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund participated in the meeting via Skype videoconference. Mr. Jbour emphasized on the priority of protecting endangered species of plants in Palestine as a pilot of study, evaluated based on the criteria of the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Through a conference phone call, Dr. Issa Adwan, Director General of Environmental Resources at Ministry of Environment Affairs paid tribute to the efforts of the Forum in adopting the national strategy to conserve biodiversity in Palestine.
