On Saturday, September 21, 2019, An-Najah National University and the Arab Innovation Network (AIN) - An-Najah Chapter has concluded the activities of the first Palestine challenge summit, Phoenix Hackathon.


The conclusion ceremony took place at the Faculty of Law Auditorium and was attended by General Manager Jibril Rajoub, President of the Palestine Olympic Committee; Prof. Maher Natsheh, An-Najah President; Dr. Kherieh Rassas, Vice ‎President for International Development and External Affairs, Eng. Aref Husseini, Chairman of Al-Nayzak Company and member of An-Najah's Board of Trustees; Mrs. Rula Al-Shunnar, also member of the Board of Trustees; Dr. Shaker Bitar, Vice President of Administrative Affairs; Dr. Nidal Dwaikat, Deputy President of Planning, Development and Quality Assurance; Eng. Imad Rajoub, Technical Director  of Royal Industrial Trading Company; Ms. Mona Zaarour, General Coordinator of the Arab Innovation Network (AIN); Dr. Ali Abdel Hameed, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and IT and Dr. Yahya Saleh, AIN - An-Najah Chapter Supervisor as well as the scientific committee of the academic supervision, judgment comity and participating students.

123 participants from An-Najah National University, Birzeit University. Arab American University, Al-Quds University-Abu Dis, Palestine Polytechnic University and Palestine Technical University – Khadouri were part of the event.

The Hackathon challenges included "DMZ Tech Challenge", "IMS", "Think & Build", "Make it Perfect", "Calgary", "Video Puzzle", "Aramex" and "Be the Solution".

Student Mohammad Shreim, Chairman of AIN - An-Najah Chapter talked about the network achievements and the challenges it faced nationally and internationally.

He also expressed his pride with this achievement and said that the judgment comity included staff members of the Palestinian universities and corporates representatives.

The winner of "DMZ" challenge was Phoenix team of the Arab American University while student Ibrahim Saad Addeen of Khadouri won the "IMS" challenge. The other prizes went to An-Najah National University as students Ramzi Shadeed and Saif Adeen Khraiwish of MOZEOVST team won the "Think & Build" challenge; students Omar Hannoun and Masa Ajaj of High ‎Voltage won the "Make it Perfect" challenge and student Amer Abu Jalboush won the "Calgary" challenge. Finally "Video Puzzle" prize went to student Mohammad Salhi and "Aramex" went to students Mohammad Shammout, Firas Raba'a and Ameed Omar of MFA team.

It is worth mentioning that "Be the Solution" prize winners will be revealed soon.

Originally a society founded at the University of Cambridge, the Arab Innovation Network (AIN) is a not-for-profit youth driven innovation network focused on the Arab region. AIN acts as a platform for Arab youth to explore problems and develop solutions.
AIN An-Najah National University Chapter is a Registered Student Association in An-Najah Business Innovation and Partnership Center (NaBIC).
