On Tuesday, September 10, 2019, An-Najah's Nutrition and Food Technology Department participated in the 2nd evaluation and kick-off workshop for the joint German-Palestinian projects funded under PALGER 2015 & 2017 in Ramallah.

The event was jointly organized by the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in cooperation with DLR-PT.

The PALGER funding programme is intended to establish long-term German-Palestinian research cooperation and thus strengthen the sustainability of Palestinian universities and research institutions. Its focus is particularly on junior scientists.

The event provided a forum for Palestinian and German PIs of the first and second PALGER cycles to share their impressions, to engage in technical and cooperation exchanges, and to give recommendations for improving future research collaboration within the framework of the PALGER funding programme.

A total of 14 projects were funded under the first joint call 'PALGER 2015' in 2016-2019. In September 2018, the bilateral Steering Committee confirmed the joint funding of 14 other projects from the second round of calls for 'PALGER 2017'. These will now be funded in the period 2019-2021.

One of these projects was of Dr. Manal Badrasawi from the Nutrition and Food Technology Department who gave a presentation on the project on behalf of the German partner.
