On Monday, November 12th, 2018, Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah received Mr.Ullrich Kinne, Head of the Press, Culture and Protocol Affairs and Official Spokesperson at the German Representative Office and Mrs. Basma Khatib, Press, Human Rights and Cultural Affairs Officer. The delegation was also received by Dr. Mohammad Al-Amleh, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Hamed Abdelhaq, An Assistant Professor of computer science at An-Najah University, the International Office and the PR Department at the University.


The meeting aimed at discussing possible means of mutual cooperation between An-Najah and the German universities with regards to media, journalism, vocational and technical education, nursing, languages and information. It also aimed at strengthening academic and cultural exchange for students and staff as well as conducting dual programmes between the two parties and student and staff scholarship programmes.

Prof. Natsheh welcomed the delegation and briefed them on An-Najah's history, academic programmes, campuses, scientific centres, National Hospital and partnership agreements with a number of European and American universities. He also talked about the political and financial obstacles that face higher education in Palestine. He added that the University is achieving great progress in world rankings despite the difficulties. He added that An-Najah aims to offer programmes that meet the labour market's requirements.

Finally, he discussed further means of academic cooperation with regards to offering dual programmes as well as student and staff scholarship programmes.

 In turn, the delegation stressed the importance of developing cooperation with An-Najah and mentioned that they are ready to offer support for staff and students scholarships and joint research production.

Mr. Kinne referred to the scholarships offered by German institutions such as the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). He mentioned that he is trying to learn about the students and staff needs to develop mutually beneficient avenues for deepening German-Palestinian academic cooperation.

After the meeting, the Public Relations Department organized a tour for the delegation to the New Campus to learn more about its faculties, and they also visited the Media Centre to see its facilities and equipment.
