On Wednesday, October 10, 2018, Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah received a delegation from Europa University Flensburg (EUF) in Germany.

The delegation was headed by Prof. Monika Eigmüller, Vice President for International Affairs at EUF and included Ms. Ulrike Bischoff-Parker, Head of International Office and Prof. Ralf Wüstenberg as well as Dr. Zeina Barakat.


The visit aimed at reinforcing the cooperation between the two universities and expanding student and staff exchange programmes. It also aimed at learning about the progress made on the recent cooperation agreement signed between the two universities as part of Erasmus+ programme.

Prof. Natsheh welcomed the attendees and briefed them on An-Najah's History which has recently completed 100 years of establishment and its academic programmes that include 150 for BA, MA and PhD levels. He talked about its academic and research achievements as well as the political and financial challenges that face higher education in Palestine, most important of which is the difficulty to attract international staff and students to enroll in the universities' programmes.

He also talked about the cooperation agreements with a number of European universities and mentioned that this year the University dispatched 90 students to German and European universities to continue their graduate and post-graduate studies.

Dr. Amjad Abu El-Ezz, Lecturer at the Political Science Department and visit organizer said that the delegation intends to learn about An-Najah services and infrastructure and discuss the possibility to initiate joint projects through the international office in both universities. He mentioned that this will contribute to the development of the cooperation as both parties already agreed to initiate new joint projects.

The delegation thanked An-Najah administration for their hospitality and stressed the importance of the mutual cooperation between the two universities. They also discussed further means of mutual cooperation in different areas like medicine, media, law, politics and sports and establishing exchange opportunities for German students to join An-Najah.

At the end of their visit, the delegation were given a tour of the New Campus where they visited a number of faculties and the Media Centre to learn more about the University's facilitates, services and infrastructure.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Ali Habayeb, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, Mr. Mohammad Kobari, Acting Director of the Public Relations Department and the International Office.
