An-Najah Professor Concludes a Scientific Visit to Malta
As part of the Erasmus+ exchange programme, Dr. Hasan Ayoub, Head of the Political Sciences Department and Coordinator of the Planning and Political Development MA programme at An-Najah has recently concluded a scientific visit to the University of Malta.
The visit was over six days through which Dr. Ayoub gave a series of lectures and held a number of fruitful meetings.
The visit aimed at discussing the possibility of establishing a sustainable work programme with the University of Malta through the opportunities the E+ programme offers regarding inter-academic development.
The visit included four lectures, the first of which focused on approaches to resolving the Israeli–Palestinian conflict; namely, the one-state solution model and the two-state solution model. The lecture was attended by a large number of BA international relations and political sciences students.
The second lecture shed light on "governance" issue in the Palestinian refugee camps and was attended by international relations MA students. The third lecture was given to MA students and talked about the Israeli closure policies and its influence on Palestine's development while the fourth lecture discussed the issues of democracy and governance in the Palestinian political system for undergraduate and graduate students.
Dr. Ayoub also held a meeting to discuss possible means of joint academic cooperation between the Department of International Relations and Political Sciences at the University of Malta and the Department of Political Sciences and the Planning and Political Development MA Programme at An-Najah.
The meeting discussed the preparation process for a joint MA project between both universities through increasing staff and student exchange visits at the beginning of the academic year 2018/2019.
The initiative was displayed to relevant departments and entities in both universities and the E+ Office to enhance students' knowledge and skills.
