Prof. Sameer Abu-Eisheh from the Faculty of Engineering and IT at An-Najah has recently participated in the International School on Energy Systems ISES 2017 of Julich Research Centre, one of the largest interdisciplinary research centres in Europe as a keynote speaker and supervisor.


The event took place in Munich and was organized in cooperation between Julich Research Centre and the University of Bonn and the University of Sydney.

Prof. Abu-Eisheh talked about his research titled: "Strategic Planning for Clean and Sustainable Transportation in Palestine" which is associated with the roadmap of the research project that he was recently awarded as part of the 1st call of the Palestinian-German Science Bridge (PGSB) research cooperation programme financed by the German government.

Prof. Abu-Eisheh also mentored a working group of Ph.D. and M.Sc. students who attended the school.

During the school, Prof. Abu-Eisheh discussed the fragile situation of energy, environment and transportation in Palestine and the challenges that encounter these sectors as well as the efforts made to set strategic plans and develop appropriate policies.

Prof. Abu-Eisheh also met with a number of lecturers from Germany, Sweden, Austria, the U.S, France, the U.K, Russia, Australia and Ghana to discuss possible means of mutual cooperation in regard to student exchange and scientific visits exchange.

Notes:

ISES 2017, hosted by Forschungszentrum Jülich, invites young researchers and young professionals in the fields of energy technologies, engineering, planning, economics, political science and related disciplines to discuss the challenges of present and future energy systems. The major issues of energy systems and the transformation process are addressed by keynote speakers and discussed by the participants.
