The American Corner Nablus Hosts International Debate Trainers
On Wednesday, August 23rd, 2017, the International Office’s American Corner Nablus at An-Najah held an intensive one day British Parliamentary debate training that included a series of workshops and practice debates.
Three international debaters with extensive debate experience from the United States and Russia led trainings focused on different common debate subjects tackled at the university level internationally including freedom of speech and hate groups, feminism and the economy and multiparty vs. two party political systems.
The training and debates were attended by debate trainees at both An-Najah National University and Al-Quds University Bard College. The intensive training was also preparation for a national British Parliamentary tournament being held at Al-Quds University in Abu Dis on Thursday, August 24th, 2017 which An-Najah will compete in.
The American Corner Nablus is responsible for An-Najah’s English debate team and has and will continue to train students and recent graduates for national, regional and international debate tournaments.
The debate trainers were Templeton Kay and Matt Caito, experienced debaters in both the European and US Circuits currently attending Bard College in Berlin and Anna Lastochkina, debate coach at Smolny College in St. Petersburg.
