An-Najah Holds an English Debate Competition
On Wednesday, May 24th, 2017, the International Office's American Corner Nablus hosted the first English British Parliamentary Debate Competition in Palestine at the university level between students of the English Debate Team at An-Najah National University's American Corner Nablus and Al-Quds University, Bard College.
Five debaters from Al-Quds University and nine debaters from An-Najah National University competed in the competition which included two full British Parliamentary formal debates.
The motions were: "This house would abolish the international criminal court" and "This house would ban international aid charities from using sensational, graphic or overly-emotional images of suffering."
Both debates were formally judged by Mariel Golden, a former British Parliamentary debater, judge and trainer.
At the conclusion of the event, the teams were ranked and the top performing teams of both debates received awards for their efforts.
